Education

The California Architectural Foundation (CAF) has had a long history of supporting the next generation of architects primarily through scholarships such as the Mel Ferris and Savings By Design for currently enrolled college students as well as the Built Environment Educational Program (BEEP) for K-12 students. Recently the Paul W. Welch Jr, ARE Scholarship was added to CAF’s repertoire in order to further support emerging professionals on their path to licensure. With the expansion of the Board of Regents to include representatives from each of California’s accredited schools of Architecture as well as community colleges, CAF has recognized the importance of expanding this role and of building a stronger bridge between the Academic and Professional design communities. CAF seeks to share knowledge and support scholarship through research and dialogue and provides links to California schools and the work of their faculty and students. CAF is also actively engaged in bringing stakeholders together to improve architectural education within the state and is working with their partner, the AIACC Academy of Emerging Professionals, to move forward the objectives of the 2011 Architectural Education Summit.
